Renewable energy ballot initiative on the agenda
The Ecology Center’s 2012 annual meeting, this Thursday, May 24, will feature a presentation about the ballot initiative calling for Michigan to adopt a renewable energy standard of 25 percent by 2025.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. at the University of Michigan’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens, and feature a presentation by Douglas Jester of 5 Lakes Energy, a Michigan-based policy-consulting firm that has developed much of the material supporting the renewable energy campaign.
“In addition to showcasing the pioneering work done by our staff and volunteers over the past year and to welcoming new board members, our annual meetings have always featured a presentation about a special environmental issue and how it affects our community and our future,” according to Michael Garfield, director of the Ecology Center.
“So we are excited to be able to offer an up-to-the-minute status report on the status of renewable-energy initiative, and talk about ways we can engage in the campaign.”
The meeting is free and open to the public.
