Detroit Clean Air Luncheon

Wednesday, June 7, 2017 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm

COLORS Restaurant 311 E. Grand River Ave. Detroit, MI, 48226

A Detroit Incinerator Alternatives Luncheon and Keynote Address by Ahmina Maxey.

The Ecology Center would like to invite you to a luncheon fundraiser to support our work for clean air and a healthy community in metro Detroit. Detroit is home to the world's largest trash incinerator, that has plagued the community with countless air pollution violations. We want it shut down. You can help Detroit breathe cleaner air. We are pleased to announce that Ahmina Maxey, the North Ameria Coordinator of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives, will speak at the event. Ms. Maxey's topic - incineration, clean air, and recycling alternatives - is a critically important issue for metro Detroit.

The Clean Air Luncheon will be hosted at COLORS Restaurant in Detroit, located at 311 E. Grand River Ave from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. All of the money raised from the event will benefit the campaign to replace the Detroit municipal waste incinerator, the largest incinerator in the world. The event is free and open to the public with a recommended donation of $50. Opportunities to sponsor the event are still available and start at $250.

The topic of incineration is critically important to metro Detroit. Trash incinerators are significant sources of toxic chemicals that are linked to cancer, asthma, and other health problems. The Detroit incinerator has also committed 379 violations of the Clean Air Act since January 2015. We hope you will join us to learn more about better and healthier alternatives for metro Detroit to handle its waste.

RSVP to reserve your place at the luncheon. We hope to see you soon!
