EcoRide 2013? 'A great way to get out, see a great band and support a great cause'
June 23 tour will feature routes for riders and walkers of all ages, abilities
"Road Warriors, casual riders, kids, families, foodies, arts lovers and everyone in our community who supports sustainable living will enjoy EcoRide 2013," according to Ecology Center events coordinator Ken Kozora. "EcoRide is a great way for folks to get outdoors, see a great band and support a great cause, whether they want to ride, walk, skate or just hang out."
This year's EcoRide is set for June 23, with a variety of routes to suit walkers and riders of all levels and abilities beginning and ending at Ann Arbor's Riverside Park. Riders are asked to raise pledges for their ride. Donations are tax-deductible and will benefit the Ecology Center's work for a safe and healthy environment.
A new feature this year will be "pop-up" art galleries highlighting local artists whose work represents sustainability themes. Dragon Wagon, a band that bills itself as "bluegrass folk rock with a shot of Irish whiskey," will perform.
"Our goal is to provide an unique, fun and healthy event that appeals to a wide variety of people and gives them an opportunity to experience visible examples of the most exciting ‘green’ projects in the region, and to raise funds to help us continue that work in the future," Kozora said.
