Craig Hupp, a member of the Detroit-based law firm Bodman PLC, has joined the Ecology Center board of directors.

At Bodman, Hupp advises clients on compliance with environmental law and represents them in a wide variety of environmental matters. He also has served as a mediator in environmental disputes, developed an environmental-liability allocation program that has been adopted as a basis for settling claims, and is the author of an environmental policy manual for a group of Michigan banks. Hupp chairs Bodman’s sustainability committee and served in an advisory role to the Governor’s Climate Action Council.

A long-time member of the board of Local Motion Green, a Grosse Pointe-based environmental organization, Hupp was named to the board of the Ecology Center earlier this year. Local Motion Green merged with the Ecology Center in May 2013.

Hupp earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree in engineering from the University of New South Wales in Australia, a law degree from the Wayne State University Law School, and a degree in dispute resolution from Wayne State. He also is a registered engineer.

He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Superlawyers in the environmental sections, and received a special commendation from Community Legal Resources for his pro bono contributions.

Before becoming a lawyer, Hupp worked for more than a decade with national consulting engineering firms and with the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.
