Charge Up Midwest Partner Working on Electric School Bus Funding -- Chicago Tribune
School districts, including Chicago Public Schools, to try for new electric buses
Illinois is set to receive over $105 million in the VW emissions cheating settlement, and Charge Up Midwest partner Environmental Law & Policy Center is leading the charge for a portion of funds to be used to replace diesel school buses with electric school buses. Susan Mudd, Senior Policy Advocate for ELPC stated, "Here we have an opportunity to try cleaning up our school bus fleets in Chicago and elsewhere to reduce exposure of children to these unnecessary and unhealthy emissions. This is among the better ways to spend the money."
