Greener Resilient Flooring

Proposed procurement goals: 
  • At least 80% of flooring (based on square footage) installed per year meets the silver level of Healthier Flooring criteria or greater or 
  • 80% of flooring purchased by the municipality or used by contractors meet the HomeFree Green or Yellow designation
  • 100% of flooring products have low-VOC emission certification
  • 100% of flooring adhesives are certified low VOC (volatile organic compound) by a third party certification program
  • If possible, use a floor system that can feature mechanical attachments
  • 80% of resilient flooring meets one of the following third-party certified green standards: California 01350 (California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v.1.2-2017), GREENGUARD Gold, SCS Indoor Advantage Gold, FloorScore, Blue Angel, or Cradle to Cradle Gold or Platinum
  • Preference given to products with publicly available information to encourage the use of building products that are working to minimize their environmental and health impacts
    • Material ingredients documentation demonstrating the chemical inventory of the product to at least 0.1% (1,000 ppm) with all content characterized and screened.
