Documentary director, GM honcho to speak at showing in Ann Arbor
November 9, 2011

Director Chris Paine, who made the award-winning documentary Who Killed the Electric Car in 2006, will be in Ann Arbor to present the sequel, Revenge of the Electric Car, at the Michigan Theater this weekend.

Paine and Bob Lutz, former vice chairman of General Motors, will participate in an audience Q-and-A following the 8 p.m. screening Sunday, Nov. 13. Paine also will talk after the 7 p.m. showing on Saturday, Nov. 12.

With almost every major automaker producing new electric models, Revenge of the Electric Car follows the race to be the first, the best, and the most successful at convincing consumers to buy.

The movie is "distinguished by its unguarded access to GM's Bob Lutz, Nissan's Carlos Ghosn, and Tesla's Elon Musk--three colorful super-villains who might just save the planet," according to a review in Esquire magazine.

The Ecology Center will be at both the Saturday and Sunday screenings, soliciting support for Built by Michigan, a coalition of business, labor, local government leaders and environmental groups that are promoting electric vehicles as a way to reduce pollution, cut dependence on imported oil and bring jobs back to Michigan.

The movie is being shown multiple times starting Friday, and is PG-13 so bring the family. For ticket prices or more information, check out the Michigan Theater website. The film will also be showing at the Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak, where Paine will speak after the Friday showing.
