Friday, June 14, 2019 - 6:00pm

Cass Corridor Commons, 4605 Cass Avenue, Detroit MI 48201

On behalf of Breathe Free Detroit, I would like to invite you to attend our upcoming Town Hall, “Beyond Incineration: Waste, Energy, and Just Transition,” on Friday, June 14, 2019, 6pm at the Cass Corridor Commons, 4605 Cass Avenue, Detroit MI 48201.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib will join residents and environmental and economic justice advocates for a conversation about how to create a healthier community and City in the wake of a successful campaign to shut down Detroit's trash incinerator.

After 33 years, the incinerator is closed and many issues remain unresolved. Experts and community leaders will discuss protections for workers and residents, what residents want to see on the site of the former incinerator, how to move Detroit toward zero waste, and related topics.

This event is hosted by Breathe Free Detroit, Zero Waste Detroit, and Empower Michigan and sponsored by Wayne State University Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors  (C.U.R.E.S.).  Social justice organizations, including Good Jobs Now, the Great Lakes Environmental Law Center, and Soulardarity will also be participating in this conversation about environmental, economic, and social justice.
