Saturday Recycling Crafts are offered one Saturday morning per month from 10am-Noon, Sept. - June. Individuals and families can drop in for a 30-60 minute activity.  Groups of 5+ are asked to pre-register by emailing mrftours@ecocenter.org to assure adequate staffing and supplies are on-hand.

Interested groups of 15+ may schedule a FREE weekday tour during our normal business hours, 8am-5pm, September through June.

Weekday tours can be arranged for school field trips, scout groups, green clubs, college groups, organizations and more! See our programs below for more information.

NOTICE: Tours at Ann Arbor’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) are currently suspended.

Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required, no high heels. In the winter, the floor tour can be a bit chilly, so please dress appropriately.

Due to safety regulations, children under age 6 may enjoy activities in the classroom only and are not permitted on the MRF floor when the plant is in operation.

Please be aware that we cannot guarantee the plant will be operating during your visit. Rest assured, you will get a full tour of the facility regardless of whether the equipment is running.

 

Getting to the MRF

The MRF is located at 4150 Platt Road, near East Ellsworth Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 at the Wheeler Service Center. For directions, please see here.

Parking can be tight. If no space is available in the lot, cars can be parallel parked along the east (right) side of the road. For a parking map, please see here.

Programs are held in the MRF Education Center at the facility. When you arrive, enter the blue door to the left of the scale. From there, take the door to the left upstairs and an educator will be there to greet you.
