Remembering Frances Bunch

We’re saddened to share the news that former Ecology Center Board President Frances Bunch passed away on December 29.  Frances served on the Board of Directors from 1988-1994, and as President for three of those years.

During her time of service as President, the Ecology Center more than doubled in size, reorganized Recycle Ann Arbor into its current structure as a wholly owned nonprofit subsidiary, started up our state and national environmental health work, organized a major community-wide celebration of the 20th anniversary of Earth Day, and affiliated with the United Auto Workers.

A lifelong environmentalist, Frances helped organize the first Huron River Day in southeast Michigan; tirelessly championed community environmental health initiatives, and carried herself in every meeting with compassion and kindness.

We send out our regards and wishes to the Bunch family.
