Save Sibley Prairie: Bailey & Nikki

The Sibley Prairie is a rare and irreplaceable ecosystem located in Brownstown, MI — the largest remaining prairie of its kind in the state! Last summer, the property went up for sale and faced the threat of development. Conservation groups from across the country have formed the Save Sibley Prairie Coalition to protect this endangered landscape. The effort is ongoing, but the clock is ticking: the land must be purchased and safeguarded by December 2026 to preserve this piece of Michigan’s natural history. Ecology Center staff Nikki Chopra (right) and Bailey Flannery (left) will be covering the initiative over the summer to help spread the word about this beautiful ecosystem and the urgent need to protect it for future generations.
